Turmeric has been getting a lot of attention as a potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory. The ground root of turmeric produces a rich, golden orange spice most people have encountered in curries. I use it frequently in soups, stews, egg dishes, anything Asian or Mideastern, and as Golden Milk, one of my favorite after -dinner drinks.
Curcumin is the ingredient in turmeric which is responsible for its rich golden color. It has been used for centuries in Chinese and Ayuverdic medicine. It is now being studied for its effects on cancer, healthy cholesterol levels, liver and gallbladder health, and joint pain relief through anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
